BSA Commends Launch of Singapore's National AI Strategy
SINGAPORE – November 19, 2019 – BSA | The Software Alliance welcomes the launch of Singapore’s National AI Strategy, as unveiled by Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat. AI is projected to boost global GDP by more than S$20 trillion by 2030 and governments play a key role in examining the legal, social, and regulatory issues related to the ethical development and use of AI innovation.
The three factors governing the capacity for Singapore's AI strategy to take off, namely, a ready workforce, openness and collaboration, and good governance, will be essential to maximising the positive potential that AI can bring to citizens and the economy. “Singapore is well-positioned to be a global leader in AI and the launch of its National AI Strategy represents a timely and significant step towards achieving this vision,” said Jared Ragland, Senior Director, Policy – APAC, BSA | The Software Alliance.
BSA and its member companies recognise the importance of raising awareness and building confidence in AI systems and will continue to be leaders in creating best practices surrounding the development and deployment of fair, explainable, and accountable AI technologies. We will continue to support and partner with Singapore policymakers to help implement the vision set out in the AI strategy.
